Multicultural Mental Health Australia presents 1/2 day Workshop
The Meaning Behind the Words: Communicating Meaning through an Interpreter.

This workshop explores ways that interpreters and mental health workers
can work together to try to get as close as possible to the intended
meaning behind the words of the speaker. While this workshop addresses
these issues in terms of mental health, the interpretive process discussed
can be utilised across the broader health field and provide a respectful
vehicle for the interpretation of meaning. Greg Turner is a psychologist
and education coordinator, Queensland Transcultural Mental Health Centre.
He has coordinated the development of an accredited course in
“Interpreting in Mental Health Settings”.
