3. Know Your Rights and Responsibilities cards: The Consumer Activity
Network (Mental Health) Inc is an independent non-for-profit consumer
organisation and it has produced a quick reference card for mental health
consumers about their rights and responsibilities. The Know Your Rights
and Responsibilities card lists 12 key points including your right to
complain, to refuse treatment and to have your cultural background and
gender taken into consideration. The card also features toll-free numbers
for the Human Rights & Equal Opportunities Commission and the Abuse &
Neglect Hotline. The second side of the card features 12 of the Disability
Service Standards, which includes details about your right to access
services that meet your individual needs; as well as your right to
privacy, dignity and confidentiality. The card looks like colourful quilt
patchwork and is very easy to read. Call the Consumer Activity Network
