Dear Colleagues

Multicultural Mental Health Australia is trying to develop a Speakers
Bureau to ensure CALD voices are heard across all media outlets.
During Mental Health Week, MMHA worked with a collection of CALD consumers
and carers in a series of interviews on 702 ABC Sydney, various programs
on SBS Radio and also in various ethnic and local newspapers.
It was an exciting opportunity for all, as we were able to raise awareness
of issues surrounding the mental health of people from non-English
speaking backgrounds and in turn help break down the stigma attached to
mental illness.
MMHA is keen to continue raising this awareness and strongly believes
personal stories from CALD consumers and carers is the key to achieving
this.
The attached document outlines more details about the Speakers Bureau and
also contains a form to fill out.
Please circulate this email or fill out the form attached and return it to
MMHA if you would like to be part of the Speakers Bureau.
The selection process for the Speakers Bureau will entail a number of
stages including an initial interview with other CALD consumers and
carers, and the MMHA Communications, Media and Information Coordinator
(who has an extensive experience in radio).
